From your very first wave to your next level
citywave Tokyo is a facility for every surfer — from people who have never tried surfing to those who want to take their riding further. On our stable, perfectly controlled wave, fully supported by professional instructors, even complete beginners and kids stand up on the board.

Choose your level
Surfboard and wetsuit are included. Just bring your swimwear and a towel — we'll handle the rest.
Beginner
Never surfed before, or can't quite stand up yet? Surf safely with full instructor support. Even kids stand up 100% of the time.

Children with zero experience stand up 100% of the time. Very light kids who can't ride solo yet can surf together with an instructor.

Already able to take off and turn? Ride a bigger 100 cm wave and surf the face for a more dynamic experience.

No experience needed. Here's exactly how a day at citywave works.
Reserve
Pick an open slot on the booking calendar. First time? We recommend the Beginner course. Private bookings available on request.
Check in
Arrive about 30 minutes before your session. Relax in the lounge and watch staff demos and other surfers ride.
Safety briefing
We walk you through helmet and board handling, safety points and surfing basics so everyone can ride with confidence.
Ride with the bar
Feel the wave while holding the support bar. Once you're comfortable (about 10 min), let go and practice on your own.
Hands-on support
With the bar removed, an instructor steadies you by hand. Got the hang of it? Let go and ride solo.
Surf & try tricks
Ride freely without support. From rail work to spins and even air reverses — build skills that carry over to the ocean.
If any first-timer is in the session, it starts with the bar lesson.
If all participants prefer, the bar lesson and hands-on support can be skipped.
Simple, all-inclusive rates
Prices include tax, surfboard and wetsuit. Rental boards and wetsuits are available in a range of sizes.

Swimwear is not available for rent — please bring your own. Multi-session passes, private bookings and board lockers are also available; just ask us.
